So, I heard some buzz about this event, something like the ‘Shenzhen Water Club Aiming High Forum’. Sounded kinda official, but also maybe interesting? I like checking out different scenes in Shenzhen, see what people are up to.
Decided, alright, let’s give it a look. Had some free time that afternoon anyway. Didn’t really know what to expect, maybe some talks about swimming, or boating? The name was a bit ambitious, ‘Aiming High Forum’.
Getting There and First Look
Finding the place wasn’t too bad. Hopped on the subway, got off, and walked for maybe 10 minutes. It was held in a sort of multi-purpose hall attached to a sports complex, not a fancy hotel or anything. Looked pretty standard.
Walked in. There were maybe 50 or 60 people milling around or already sitting. Seemed like mostly club members, some older guys, some younger folks. They had a little registration desk, but nobody really stopped me, so I just kinda slipped in and found a seat near the back.
What Went Down
Okay, so the ‘forum’ part was basically a series of presentations. Real simple setup: projector, screen, microphone.

- There was a bit where they asked for member feedback, a few people stood up and said their piece. Mostly suggestions about pool hours or coaching.
Honestly, it was pretty straightforward. More like a club annual meeting than some big ‘forum’. No fireworks, no dramatic reveals. Just people passionate about their water sports club talking shop.
My Takeaway
Sat through most of it. Didn’t really talk to anyone much, just observed. It was… alright. Definitely not the most exciting afternoon I’ve spent, but it was interesting to see a local club organizing itself and making plans. They seemed pretty dedicated.
Left after about an hour and a half when things started winding down. Grabbed a bottle of water on the way out. So, yeah. That was the Shenzhen Water Club thing. Just a club meeting, basically. Now I know.
