Okay, let me tell you about my time at the JW Marriott over in Shenzhen, the Kaisa one.
Getting There and Checking In
So, I got myself over to Dapeng where this place is. Took a while to get there, traffic wasn’t great, but that’s Shenzhen sometimes, right? Pulled up to the hotel entrance. Looked pretty grand from the outside, definitely has that Marriott look. Lots of glass, kinda modern looking.
Walked into the lobby. It’s big, really high ceiling, felt quite airy. Went straight to the check-in desk. The staff there were polite, efficient enough. Got through the process without any fuss, really. They took my details, gave me the key card, told me where the elevators were. Standard stuff, done smoothly.
The Room Experience
Found my way up to the room. First impression? Pretty decent size. Clean, which is always the main thing for me. Walked over to the window straight away, always do that. Had a view looking out towards the sea, which was nice. Could see the beach area down below. Definitely a plus point.
The bed looked comfy, big king-size thing. Bathroom was clean too, separate shower and tub. They had all the usual bits and pieces, toiletries and stuff. Nothing super fancy, but perfectly fine. Dumped my bags and had a quick look around.
Room features I noticed:
- Good view (sea view room)
- Comfy bed
- Clean bathroom
- Standard amenities
Wandering Around
Didn’t just stay in the room, obviously. Went for a wander to see what else the hotel had. Found the pool area. Looked really nice, actually. Big outdoor pool, lots of loungers. Didn’t end up using it, didn’t have time, but it looked tempting.
Saw they had a few restaurants. Peeked into one, looked a bit formal. Ended up just grabbing something simple later, didn’t feel like a big meal. There was also a gym, glanced in, looked well-equipped if you’re into that.

The Stay Itself
Spent one night there. Sleep quality was good. The bed was comfortable like I thought, and it was quiet. Didn’t hear noise from the hallway or other rooms, which is always a relief. Used the Wi-Fi, worked fine, no issues there.
Didn’t use room service or anything complicated. Just needed a place to crash comfortably near the coast, and it did the job.
Checking Out
Next morning, packed my stuff up. Checking out was just as easy as checking in. Went down to the desk, handed back the key card, settled the bill. Took maybe five minutes tops. Staff were polite again. Then just grabbed my bags and headed out.
Overall, it was a solid stay. Nothing blew me away, but nothing went wrong either. It’s a big, reliable Marriott hotel in a nice location by the sea. If you need a decent place to stay in that part of Shenzhen, it works. Clean, comfortable, efficient. Did what it said on the tin, basically.
