So, the other week was pretty rough, you know? Just one thing after another piling up. Felt like I needed to just disconnect for a bit, do something completely different. Ended up thinking about KTV, hasn’t been my scene for a while, but figured why not. Heard folks talking about this place, Oriental Charm, so I decided to check it out myself.

Got there late evening. First impression? It’s definitely got that ‘charm’ thing going on, lots of lights, bit flashy, you know the type. Walked into the lobby, it was busy, music muffled from different directions. Went up to the front desk, place seemed pretty organised despite the crowd.

Getting Sorted

Dealing with the staff at the counter was straightforward. Asked for a small room, just for myself, maybe a couple of hours. They showed me the price list, typical KTV rates, maybe a bit on the higher side but not crazy. Paid for the room upfront, plus a small deposit for drinks or whatever. They handed me a little card thingy for the room number.

Finding the room was easy enough, long corridors branching off, each door numbered. Place felt pretty clean, which is always a good sign. Found my room, swiped the card, and went in.

Inside the Room

The room itself was standard KTV fare. Big screen, couple of mics on a stand, wrap-around sofa. Looked reasonably maintained, didn’t see any major stains or damage, which was nice.

The System:

• Fired up the screen. The song selection system was touchscreen, pretty responsive.
• Took me a minute to figure out the interface, wasn’t super intuitive at first, but got the hang of it.
• Searched for a few old songs I like, mostly found them. The library seemed decent enough, covered the basics and some newer stuff too.
• Mic quality was okay, not professional studio level obviously, but good enough for belting out some tunes badly. Didn’t have that annoying feedback screech you sometimes get.

Ordered a couple of beers using the service button. Took maybe 10 minutes for someone to knock and bring them in. Service was efficient, no fuss. Paid for the drinks right there.

The Actual Singing Part

Honestly, just spent the next hour or so cycling through songs. Didn’t really care how I sounded, that wasn’t the point. Just needed to make some noise, get some of that pent-up frustration out. It actually worked better than I expected. The soundproofing between rooms seemed pretty good too, could hear faint bass from next door but nothing intrusive.

Didn’t interact much with anyone else, just focused on the screen and the mic. Saw some groups walking down the hallway, looked like typical KTV crowds – friends, maybe some office parties. The atmosphere felt lively but not chaotic.

Wrapping Up

My time was nearly up, so I sang one last terrible rendition of something classic. Packed up my stuff, made sure I didn’t leave anything behind. Headed back to the front desk.

Handed back the room card. They checked if I had any outstanding charges, which I didn’t since I paid for the drinks already. Got my deposit back, no issues there. The whole check-out process was quick, maybe two minutes.

Walked out feeling a bit lighter, throat slightly sore, but definitely less wound up than when I went in. So yeah, that was my little solo trip to Oriental Charm. Did the job, place was run okay, nothing spectacular but solid enough if you just need a place to sing for a bit.
